Hi Memory Savers,
Today I am continuing on the theme of being creative with where we journal. Yesterday I showed you how easy it is to journal on a doily. Todays takes more work but the results are awesome!
I wanted to sew a journaling “box”. In this case I wanted to make a Santa hat. I am not very good at drawing. Even simple shapes can throw me. To make a Santa hat I decided to first find one on Google image and try and freehand the example. I drew the image and then cut it out. Using a needle I pushed holes all the way around the Santa hat.
I then sewed the hat. On the top I used a flat red thread and on the bottom I used a metallic red thread.
Before sewing on the thread I wanted to make the ball to go on the hat. I knew it would take drying time so I went ahead and took care of it. I decided to use a large white eyelet. I smeared quick dry adhesive all over the top and sprinkled it with glitter. I then let it dry.
After sewing the hat I was able to use it as a wonderful journaling area. I used a contrasting ink color – green.
To finish the page I Used a piece of decorative cardstock and trimmed the area I wanted to use and adhered it to the the page. I then adhered Absey’s picture to the page. I went around the edges of her picture with washi tape. I thought something was missing so I added a rub-on to the Santa hat and the glitter eyelet.
Finished and SO cute!
I hope you are having a great Monday!
