Enamel Dots Take the Cake!

Ok, another enamel dot idea.  I have to admit I scraplifted this idea.  I did change it up but the basic idea was someone else’s.  Feel free to scraplift anything off of my blog.  If you have a blog feel free to tell your readers where you got your idea from.  The more readers I have the happier I am.  🙂

More Reasons for Enamel Dots (like you need any)

Enamel dots are such a versatile scrapping product.  (I know I’ve said that before).  Another great way to use them is when journaling on the layout.  Use the dots as bullet points to separate (number) ideas.

Why didn’t I think of it sooner?

Aha, Another Corky Idea!

I was looking through a scrapbooking magazine, a few days ago, and I saw an idea that I wish I would have seen a few weeks ago.  Back when I was scrapping with cork.  It is a very simple idea.  It is making the cork into buttons.  All you have to do is punch a couple of holes in the middle, tie some string or yarn, and a button has been created.

For me it was slightly more tricky because my variety of hole punches still haven’t been unearthed after the move.  (Every day I unpack more).  The hole punches I have found were where the holes were too big or the punch wouldn’t fit over the cork.  I ended up using my paper piercer and gradually widening and pulling the cork away.  I think it would have been a neater circle with the punch but with the yarn it doesn’t really show.

Fun page!! I used the variegated yarn to add a little fun factor.

I found a tag that perfectly matched the shape of the buttons.

Hope you have a wonderful fall day!

You are My Sunshine!

Today I wanted to use a lot of pattern paper and make sun rays.  To do this I made and cut out a paper template out of scrap paper.  I like the “rays” to be off center but you might like them centered.

My template before I cut it out.

The template can be any size and shape (square, circle, rectangle).

After I cut the template out I found different pieces of scrap paper, traced the templates on them, and cut out the “rays”.  I then adhered them to a piece of cardstock putting a space between each.  I matted a small photo and adhered that to the approximate center of the “sun”.

I added a few stickers (including the year it was taken) and have a wonderful layout!

Busy, Busy, and Fun Week

This last weekend my son was in 7th heaven.  His girlfriend, and her family, came to visit us (him).  They stayed at a Hilton Head hotel and on Saturday morning we met at the beach.  What was really cool was they were having the first annual sandcastle competition.  It was just a two hour event so they couldn’t be real huge but there were a few that were very nice.

There were several others that were very good but these were two of my faves.

After the sandcastle competition Brad and I left the beach and left Tim with his girlfriend and her family.  Later on we all met for dinner at The Crazy Crab.  The next morning Tim went shopping at the outlet mall while Brad and I shopped for not so fun stuff at Lowes Home Improvement store.  Fun weekend!

This week I have been busy unpacking (will it ever end?), getting quotes to get gutters put on our house, and having our piano tuned.  I finally unearthed my punches this morning.  I am one happy lady!

Every time a piano moves it needs tuned.  Ours hadn’t been tuned in a long time.  Tim wants to start taking piano lessons so it was very necessary.  Our older boys took lessons when they were young.  Jake took for 7 years and Ben for 4 years.  They always enjoyed creating their own songs and occasionally they enjoyed learning what the teacher chose but I wish they would have continued.  I’m hoping since Tim is asking for the lessons that he will try really hard and become accomplished at it (and especially that he enjoys it).  Now, to find a piano teacher.

Hope your weekend is a happy one!

God bless!

More Fun with Enamel Dots (and adhesive gems)

Today I had to make a quick layout (still the excuse of unpacking) and decided to use more enamel dots.  I wanted to make a frame using them.  I am scrapping a few Christmas pictures and used decorative paper with a Christmas theme.  It had red berries on the paper so I wanted to use red enamel dots.  I didn’t have enough so I decided to jazz up the layout by using adhesive gems with the enamel dots.

I think it turned out quite nice.

Are you getting into the Thanksgiving/Christmas mode?  I have gotten some shopping done (tend to do that throughout the year) but have A LOT more.

God bless you and yours!

Candy and More Candy

Today’s layout is of my nephew’s 3rd birthday party.  He had a homemade pinata.  I used alpha stickers and wrote the word “POP”.  I then used a few actual candy stickers.  To fill up the remainder of the page I used enamel dots by My Mind’s Eye.

I love how versatile enamel dots are!  Hope your day is wonderful!

Free Hand Sewing

Today’s layout was easy but it took a little time sewing.  I used the Sew Easy and poked the holes in the cardstock.  (I had already adhered the matted photo on the page.)  After sewing with the shiny thread I added three decorative stickers.

Transparent Circles

Today I am doing the 2nd part of a layout.  (The first part was posted on the 3rd).  I used circles and I wanted to continue to do that in this half of the layout.  I found a decorative paper with circles all over.  I adhered the pictures the same as I did on the first half of the layout but on the opposite side of the page.  Then I used my two circle punches that I used on the previous layout and punched circles out of a sheet of transparency.  I then adhered them to several of the circles of similar size on the decorative paper (where the pictures were not attached).

Unfortunately the scanner did not pick up the transparency circles very well so you won’t see much difference between the circles with the transparency attached and those without.  It does look very nice.

Family Christmas. Sure miss seeing the people in these pictures!

I was hoping that the idea would show through when scanned but hopefully you can get the idea by the description.  Hope your day is wonderful!

We had a Great Weekend!

Last weekend was great!  My husband’s brother and his family came to visit.  Our house was still very messy but they managed to overlook it and we had a wonderful visit.  They arrived LATE Friday night.  On Saturday morning my brother-in-law helped my hubby move the remainder of the big stuff out of our apartment.  (So grateful!)  Then we took them to check out Coligny Beach.  Lots of skim boarding going on.  I also saw an awesome sand castle being built.  So cool!   We then went and ate fantastic bbq at One Hot Mama’s.

On Sunday we took them to the reserve where there are gators, Spanish moss, and lots of lily pads.  We got out and went down a little trail to a duck blind.

Everyone crammed into the duck blind.

Just as we were leaving my husband said that we were the ones being watched.  He told us to look up.

Lizards and frogs lined the inside of the building.

Blurry picture but there were lizards and frogs all along the entire building’s upper walls.  On the walk back down the trail another family was pointing up into a tree.  There was a snake curled up on a branch.  Tried to get a picture but wasn’t successful.    We took a lot of pictures of family with the Spanish moss trees around.

Me, Brad, and Tim. Hoping to get a good pic to start thinking of Christmas cards.

We really enjoyed their visit and wish they could have stayed longer.  We are planning on visiting them in a few weeks.

The rest of the week went in a blur of work (too many hours), school, unpacking boxes, and finishing up at the apartment.  I did go to the movie “Unstoppable” with Kirk Cameron.  He reminded us that God is faithful and loves us even when we are going through very difficult times.

I hope you had a wonderful week and make a lot of memories this weekend!

God bless!
