Fun Friday Pages – NOT

Hi,

This is your faithful, tired scrapbooking friend.  This week (and I am afraid for the next several weeks) my household is upside down.  Today I am going to show you a couple of pictures of what has been going on at my house the last few days.

Some rooms were painted.

This is what is happening now - sanding the hardwood and making it shiny again.

As you can see, my house is a crazy place right now.  In just a week it goes on the market.  This will require a miracle from above.

Hope your week has been less stressful and a little more quiet (sanding the floor is a noisy process) than ours.

God bless!

A Pocket to Put Things In

Hi Creative Ones,

In a previous post I have used a denim pocket to have a picture coming out of.  Today I wanted to use another denim pocket (from the same pair of jeans) but I want to have it actually hold something – tickets from when we went to see the Harlem Globetrotters.

Watching Globie and enjoying himself.

I put the pocket in just the right spot so that the tickets were right at the top edge.  If someone wanted to look at them they could easily do so because it is at the opening of the page protector.

Have any of you seen the Harlem Globetrotters?  We have went two or three times.  Only once with Tim but I can’t remember if we went once or twice with the older boys.  It is such a fun show to watch.  They are incredible athletes – and funny!

Have a blessed fun day!

Making My Own Polaroid Frames

Howdy, my friends!

This is a very simple idea if you have a square punch.  I used the largest I have – 3 1/2″. I punched it into some birthday party decorative paper.  I then trimmed it so there was approximately 1″ below the square and 1/4″ (a little over) on the other sides.  I then cut down the pictures I wanted to used and adhered the faux Polaroid frame over the top of it.  Of course it doesn’t look like a “true” Polaroid print because I used the decorative paper.  For a more authentic look use white cardstock.

I hope that your day is going wonderfully!

Just Hangin’ Around

Hi my scrappin’ friends,

Today I will show you a cute way to attach tags.  Instead of using a brad or eyelet it can be fun to hang them from a letter in the title.  I think it looks really nice when the letter is made from chipboard or a thicker.    This is the first time I have done it and it is really cute.

Just a quick idea to keep you scrappin’.  Hope your day is a happy one.

Make Using the Texture Plates Faster and Easier

Hello….

In a few posts in the past I have used the Fiskars Texture Plates.  If you are covering a large area it can be tiring to your hand and a little time consuming.  While looking on Amazon a few weeks ago, I was looking through different crafts and this tool popped up as a suggestion.  It was really inexpensive and I decided to give it a try.  It is called a Texturing Tool.  It helps you cover a larger area quicker and therefore makes it less tiring.

It was quicker and there was less stress on my hand.

I had several pictures that were almost the same.  I wanted it to appear like it was almost a negative.  To achieve this I cut each of the pictures with my large square punch.  I then adhered them equal distance apart and drew lines with my black calligraphy pen.  I then used stickers on top of the embossed areas down below (Thanks for the stickers, Terri).  Finally, I added a splash of color on top with a wide piece of washi tape.

Fun page!

God bless you and your family!

Fun Friday Pages (a few)

Hi my faithful (I hope) followers,

This is the first you will see of my slipping because of the upcoming move that my family and I are making.  I do have a few pages to show you today – but only a few.  🙁

They are FUN!

Oh, It’s Shiny

Hello!  It’s Thursday!  On some talk shows I have heard that Thursday is the new Friday. I beg to differ.  The only thing that makes Thursday any better than one of the earlier days of the week is it is one day closer to the weekend.  What makes Friday better than Thursday is all we have to do is make it though the day and then…..weekend!

Today I wanted to make my paper a little special.  It is pretty paper but not anything outstanding.  The picture I was scrapping was a very pretty picture of my sister when she was a little girl.  To make the paper more special I added Distress sticles.  Basically, it is glitter glue.  The difference is that it is a little chunkier – more dimensional.

The Distress sticles come in a lot of different colors.

I chose to use clear Distress stickles.  I wish I would have chosen black soot but I still like the look.  What I did was outline the blooms of the flowers on the paper.  I let the paper dry for quite some time and then returned and finished scrapping it.

I matted the picture on vellum and adhered it to the page.  I then used stickers for her name and some flower stickers to add a corner border to the page.  I put a felt flower on the corner of the picture and a couple of flower stickers.  A cute page but I do think I would have liked it a bit more if I would have used the black stickle.

God bless y’all!

Ink Splatters

Hello, crafty people.  Today I want to show you a fun quick idea (hardest thing to do is wait a few minutes for the ink to dry) that uses spray ink.  Instead of spraying you take off the lid and drop and flick drops around the background page.  Make sure you cover the work space well because it can get a little messy.

I had a little trouble with the spray ink that I used.  I actually had it before with this product but I used a different bottle and hoped it was just a problem with the one bottle that I had used previously.  That wasn’t the case. The name of the ink is called Sprinklers and what happened was I shook the bottle (like the directions said) and the ink started running out of the top.  Quite a bit of it.  I own five different bottles of different colors.  So far I have used two and both have leaked.  GGRRR!

After letting the ink dry I added two matted (I inked one mat) pictures to my page.  I created a tag and journaled on it and added it to my page.  Finally, I put airplane and star stickers on the layout and called it finished.

Hope your day is fantastic!

Fun Mini Vacation

Hi,

My son and I enjoyed some summer fun.  We did something that we couldn’t do during the school year.  We left Thursday morning and stayed gone until Saturday night (really Sunday morning).  We met my brother and his family at the Creation Museum in Kentucky.  We had never been there before but had wanted to go for a long time.

We heard about the museum when I was homeschooling my older sons.  We had some science curriculum that was authored by Ken Ham.  He is the man who started this museum.  He is awesome.  Here are a very few pics of our fun time.

That’s it.  Like I said – just a few pics.  Most of them are still on my camera.  Our household is crazy with our upcoming move and I wanted to let you know about this awesome museum.  Check it out!

God bless!

Cute Little Wooden Shapes

Happy day!  I had been noticing in the arts and crafts stores and on blogs cute little wooden shapes.  They are laser cut wooden veneer shapes.  They come in a lot of varieties.  A real trend now is to use arrows so of course they come in arrows.  And hearts, airplanes, suitcases, mushrooms, leaves, flowers, houses, cameras…..  The list goes on and on.

One of my three little indians. :)

One of my three little indians. 🙂

I used a car.  It didn’t have any adhesive on the back so I started putting some on.  I didn’t take into account how fragile part of it was and it started to break.  I ended up using liquid adhesive and I was a little liberal where it was cracked in hopes that it would hold it all together.  Next time I will know to be a little more careful.

On this blog I don’t intend to tell you how perfect my layouts are or how great I am at scrapping.  I want to show how I scrap and the mistakes I make so that we can all learn.

I do think this page is awesome but I generally like most of my pages.  🙂

God’s blessings on you and your family and friends!
